ORGANIZING
BUSINESSES
I help my clients choose the
right form of business organization for them, by advising them about the
benefits, advantages and disadvantages of operating as a sole proprietorship, a
partnership, a limited liability company or as a corporation. It is important
to gain some understanding of the client's business, and to help assess the
risks to see what his or her need is for the liability protection of a
corporation or LLC. After we have chosen the organizational form that meets
their needs, I then draft all of their documents to be sure the organization is
formed correctly, to withstand legal challenge and to give my clients guidance
about how to work with their new company, going forward.
As a faculty member of the National Business Institute, I speak at seminars for
other lawyers, CPAs, Financial Planners about choosing the right entity. (Next
Seminar October 24, 2008, in Seattle)
